Range
This species has a disjunct distribution along the southern and eastern coast of South Africa. It occurs from the Cape Peninsula to Humansdorp and from Port Edward to the Tugela River near Eshowe. It also occurs in Madagascar.

Description
It is usually lithophytic, growing on wet rocks and boulders in forests, and also frequently on trees in the cool, temperate forests of the southern Cape coastal belt. It is occasionally terrestrial on mossy banks near streams, and appears to be restricted to sandstone.

E. angustatum is an uncommon habitat specialist (Crouch et al. 2011).
