Range
In South Africa, this species occurs from the Wolkberg in Limpopo to the KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg and Amathole Mountains in the Eastern Cape. It also occurs in Cameroon, Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

Description
It is localized to deeply shaded ravines in high-altitude evergreen forest, almost always near streams, growing on moist banks next to water or on wet rock faces.
