Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and is widespread along the inland mountains of the Western Cape, from the Koue Bokkeveld to the Swartberg, Langeberg, and Cockscomb in the Groot Winterhoek Mountains. It is rarer in the coastal mountains.

It occurs in seeps and wet places on steep upper south-facing slopes, occasionally along the margins of small streams.
