Justification
EOO 720 km², known from the Cape Flats and a few subpopulations on the Agulhas Plain (a 140 km disjunction). Severely threatened by dense invasive alien plant infestations at all subpopulations. More than half of historical sites have been lost since 1965 due to urban expansion (generation length 20 years).

Description
Restricted to habitats which are waterlogged in winter, often growing partially submerged in water, 5-20 m.
Threats
This species has declined extensively on the Cape Flats due to habitat loss to urban expansion, with at least 50% of known subpopulations now locally extinct. Remaining subpopulations on the Cape Flats and Agulhas Plain are threatened by competition from alien invasive plants, which typically affect surface water availability in densely invaded areas.
