Justification
This large, showy species which is unlikely to be overlooked is known from only three locations, one of which is now locally extinct due to overgrazing. It is inferred that this represents a 30% reduction in the population over the past 25 years (generation length 30 years). Decline is not continuing, but overgrazing remains a potential threat.

South-facing slopes on rocky outcrops or on dolerite sills.
Threats
Anisodontea species is highly palatable (D. Snijman pers. comm.), and at one locality, the subpopulation has disappeared, presumably due to heavy overgrazing in the 1980s. Although the site is now protected and livestock has been removed, no plants seem to have regenerated. Overgrazing is also a potential threat to other subpopulations, which are on privately owned farmland.
