Justification
Known from two locations, both protected within reserves and not seriously threatened. However, this species was only recently discovered and is still poorly known, and it quite likely occurs at least in the areas surrounding the reserves and possibly elsewhere in the Eastern Cape. Outside the reserves the habitat is extensively transformed by forestry plantations and there is much ongoing illegal afforestation, especially in the Eastern Cape which could potentially threaten subpopulations.

Both currently known subpopulations are protected within reserves and not seriously threatened at present. However, this species was fairly recently discovered and is still poorly known, and it is likely to occur at least in the areas surrounding the reserves and possibly elsewhere in the Eastern Cape. Outside the reserves the habitat is extensively transformed by forestry plantations and there is much ongoing illegal afforestation, especially in the Eastern Cape (C.R. Scott-Shaw pers. comm.), which could potentially threaten subpopulations outside the reserves.
