Justification
Brachystelma comptum has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 450 km², and is known from five locations. It is potentially threatened by invasive alien plants, crop cultivation and urban expansion, and is therefore listed as Vulnerable under criterion D.

Description
It occurs in grassy quartzite ridges surrounded by dense thicket.
Threats
The Uitenhage (Type) and Drury House locations are badly disturbed with an estimated 30% decline. The Grahamstown airfield location is threatened by wattles. There is no obvious decline there as yet, but unless the aliens are dealt with, the remaining plants at this subpopulation will be lost.
