Justification
The genus Sisyranthus is in need of revision. The type specimen of S. franksiae is from an unknown locality in KwaZulu-Natal. Recent collections from St Lucia and Richard's Bay have been identified as this species, but Ashley Nicholas, expert on this group, noted that these plants do not match the type exactly. They may be a separate subspecies, in which case Sisyranthus franksiae itself remains poorly known, and should probably be classified as Data Deficient.
Distribution
Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution

Description
