Known from five locations in high mountains around Sabie and Lydenburg. Potentially threatened by overgrazing and trampling.

Description
In seepages and wet hollows among dolerite boulders and bedrock, in short and heavily grazed grassland, 2000 m.
Threats
Potentially threatened by habitat degradation as a result of overgrazing on privately owned land.
Population

The species has specialized habitat requirements, however, the population consists of numerous subpopulations and occurs wherever the habitat is suitable, and subpopulations tend to dominate the vegetation under suitable circumstances. (Linder 1981).
