Population

This species is known from only three widely disjunct records. At all three localities, very few plants were observed: in the Cederberg, 30 plants were recorded, while in the Riviersonderend Mountains and the Groot Swartberg, only one plant was seen. The Cederberg subpopulation was observed in six year old veld, indicating that this species does not require fire to flower, while the other two observations were in the first two years after fire. This species is evidently a very rare, high-altitude habitat specialist, but is not suspected to be threatened or declining.
