Threats |
According to Doug McMurtry, this species only occurs in highly pristine wetlands (always found growing in association with Sphagnum spp. - a moss species used as indicator of undisturbed wetlands), and any disturbance to the wetland - drainage, eutrophication or invasive species, even trampling by cattle causes this species to disappear from the wetland.
Around Dullstroom the development of golf estates and trout dams have led to the disturbance of many wetlands (D. McMurtry pers. comm.). |
