Justification
Known from the type collection, collected in 1890. Although the type locality is now transformed (a road was built right across the site), and the habitat is generally degraded due to spread of informal settlements, members of the Mpumalanga Plant Specialist group believe that this species is not extinct. It was searched for repeatedly between 2002 and 2006, and a single plant was found of what could possibly be this species, but confirmation is dependent on flowering.
