This species has a restricted range in South Africa, but it is widespread across southern Namibia, and it is not threatened.

Description
Dry, rocky slopes, ridges and cliffs, in full sun.
Threats
Although the area where this species occurs in South Africa is affected by severe overgrazing, this species' particular habitat offers it some protection against grazing, and the effects of overstocking such as trampling and erosion.
Population

This species is fairly widespread in the Richtersveld National Park (Venter and Venter 2003). This species' habitat is poorly explored in South Africa and Namibia, and it may be more common than records suggest (Venter and Venter 2003).
