Justification
Heliophila amplexicaulis is widespread and common, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 74 575 km². It is not in danger of extinction, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found from Steinkopf to the Knersvlakte in Namaqualand, and is widespread across the Sandveld, Cederberg and Bokkeveld Escarpment, occurring eastwards along the Roggeveld Escarpment to Matjiesfontein. It is also known from isolated occurrences on the Vredenburg Peninsula and Langeberg at Montagu.

Description
It occurs on sandy slopes in fynbos and succulent karoo.
