Justification
A minimum of 30% of subpopulations have gone extinct due to urban expansion on the Cape Flats. The remaining subpopulations are within the Table Mountain National Park, but occur in areas with invasive alien plants. Constant management by the South African National Parks staff has halted decline of habitat, but should this management stop, declines will resume. Extant at three, possibly four locations.

Threats
Urban expansion of the city of Cape Town has caused the loss of some subpopulations in the past, but remaining subpopulations are protected in the Table Mountain National Park, and habitat loss is therefore no longer a threat. Much of the Cape Peninsula was formerly severely invaded by alien invasive plants, but have been recently cleared. Ongoing management and clearing is however still needed to prevent reinvasions.
