Description
Plants grow on mountain summits, and occur in crevices in rocky sandstone outcrops on upper southwest-facing slopes.
Threats
The density of alien invasive pines on the southern slopes of the Riviersonderend Mountains above Genadendal and Greyton has significantly increased over the past 15 years (L. von Staden pers. obs.), and scattered individuals are now establishing on the northern slopes of Jonaskop. Invasive clearing is urgently needed to prevent native species from being outcompeted.
Population

This species is common along the summit of the Riviersonderend Mountains in the Genadendal and Villiersdorp districts (Bredenkamp and Van Wyk 2003).

Population trend
Stable
Conservation
This species is conserved in Vrolijkheid (Riviersonderend) Nature Reserve.
