Justification
Lachnaea burchellii is a widespread and common species, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 10 432 km². It is threatened in part of its range, but not yet in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found in the coastal mountains between Albertinia in the Western Cape and Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.

Description
It occurs on mountain slopes in fynbos.
Threats
Lachnaea burchellii has lost some habitat in the past to timber plantations, and an estimated 10% of its habitat is irreversibly modified. Recent field observations noted that some subpopulations are threatened by competition from alien invasive plants, particularly escaped pine seedlings, that are spreading from plantations into native fynbos vegetation.
