Specimens of this taxon were previously misidentified as Olinia rochetiana - see for example Coates Palgrave (2002). The true Olinia rochetiana is confined to north-eastern and central Ethiopia, south-eastern Sudan, Uganda, north-eastern Kenya and Tanzania (Sebola and Balkwill 2009).
