Justification
This species has a narrow distribution in South Africa (national EOO 583 km²), where it is known from four locations and potentially threatened by overgrazing. It also has a restricted range in Namibia, but is more common than in South Africa and not threatened, therefore the national status is downgraded by one category following IUCN regional assessment procedures.

Threats
This species is localized to the central Richtersveld mountains, where grazing pressure is currently low. However, as rangelands on the plains and closer to settlements are becoming increasingly degraded, herders are starting to move their livestock into the mountains in search of grazing. It is not threatened in Namibia.
Population

This species has a restricted range in southern Namibia, along the mountain ranges south of Aus to the Orange River. In South Africa, it is known from scattered collections along the central mountains of the Richtersveld as far south as Eksteenfontein.
