Justification
Euryops subcarnosus subsp. subcarnosus is widespread and common, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 14 425 km². It is not in danger of extinction, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

This subspecies is endemic to South Africa, and is widespread across the Little Karoo, occurring as far east as Willowmore.

Description
It occurs in rocky, shallow sandy or clay soils on lower slopes in arid fynbos and succulent karoo.
Threats
This taxon is most common in Apronveld, a habitat that is severely degraded due to overgrazing over most of the Little Karoo, and it is often grazed by game and livestock (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok 2010).
Population

It is is locally common in suitable habitat (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok 2010). The population trend is not known. It is possibly declining due to overgrazing in parts of its range.
