Justification
A localized (EOO 215 km²), but locally very common species, occurring at between five and 10 locations and potentially threatened by competition from alien invasive plants.

Description
Partly shaded limestone ridges and coastal dunes, occasionally occurring on sandstone rocks.
Threats
Invasive alien wattle infestations still persist in the De Hoop Nature Reserve, especially on limestone ridges and coastal dunes.
Population

This species abundant within De Hoop Nature Reserve, where many thousands of plants occur. Although some parts of the reserve remains infested with alien invasive wattles, it is not spreading at present, due to eradication efforts as well as successful biocontrol, and the population is not declining at present (N.A. Helme pers. obs. 2011).
