Description
Loam, black turf or clay soils in grassland an open woodland.
Threats
Most of the area where this species occurs is extensively modified due to urban and agricultural expansion, which continues rapidly, especially within Gauteng. Recent collections indicate that this species is able to persist in spite of severe habitat degradation and disturbance, and it is unlikely to be in danger of extinction.
Population

This species is known from only a few collections, scattered over a wide area. Due to its low stature it is easily overlooked, and likely to be more common than records suggest. Recent collections indicate that it persists even in severely degraded and disturbed areas within the urban edge.
