Justification
A widespread, but apparently rare and poorly known species, that may be overlooked, and more common than records indicate. It is possibly threatened by overgrazing, but with available data, its risk of extinction cannot be assessed.

Threats
This species is possibly threatened by livestock overgrazing at all three known locations. Whether this species is grazed, and its response to disturbance is not known.
Population

This species is known from two historical collections with imprecise locality descriptions, and one recent collection from the Anenous Plateau west of Steinkopf. These collections are scattered over a wide area. This species may be overlooked due to confusion with the superficially similar Ursinia punctata, which occurs from Nieuwoudtville southwards.
