Justification
Senecio hirtifolius is known from one collection made by Ecklon and Zeyher in 1895 at Uitenhage on the Swartkops River. It has not been recorded since and is probably extinct because the type area is now almost completely transformed by urban developments and crop cultivation. It is therefore listed as Critically Endangered Possibly Extinct.

Description
Its habitat is unknown, but it possibly occurs in river banks.
Threats
