Justification
Fairly widespread and common in a remote, arid area of northern South Africa and southern Namibia where it is unlikely to be severely threatened.

Population

Senecio albopunctatus was an apparently rare and poorly known taxon, however, a recent study of Senecio species from the Northern Cape by Manning and Goldblatt (2010) revealed that the more common and widespread Senecio maydae is a discoid form of S. albopunctatus, and is now included under this species.
