Distribution |
Endemism | South African endemic |
Provincial distribution | Western Cape |
Range | Jacobsbaai to Saldanha. |
Habitat and Ecology |
Major system | Terrestrial |
Major habitats | Saldanha Limestone Strandveld, Saldanha Granite Strandveld |
Description | Shallow soils in exposed limestone outcrops in Saldanha Limestone Strandveld. |
Threats |
Threatened by ongoing habitat loss to coastal and urban development and limestone mining. At one location in Saldanha, a large proportion of this species' habitat has been lost to a recent housing development, and three other locations are land earmarked for development. Large sections of this species' habitat is owned by a mining company, and habitat loss to mining is likely within the near future. Plants on municipal land between Jacobsbaai and Diazville are subjected to cattle grazing, but grazing is light and not yet causing any land degradation. |
Population |
A highly range-restricted, but locally fairly common habitat specialist.

Population trend | Decreasing |
