Chrysocoma acicularis is only known from the type, collected in 1948. It occurs in a botanically relatively poorly explored area, and is likely to be overlooked. Dedicated field surveys are likely to expand the known range. There are no severe threats and its habitat remains intact, and therefore the population is not suspected to be declining.
