Justification
Recent field observations indicate that Pteronia hutchinsoniana is more widespread and common than previously known. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 12 507 km², and is listed as Least Concern.

This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found in the Little Karoo from Montagu to the Langkloof.

Description
It occurs on lower dry sandstone slopes and clay soils in renosterveld.
Threats
Pteronia hutchinsoniana has no threats.
Population

Plants are locally abundant in suitable habitat (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok 2010).
