Helichrysum leontonyx is a widespread and common weedy species that is not in danger of extinction.

Range
This species occurs from southern Namibia to the Richtersveld and Namaqualand, and southwards across the Roggeveld Escarpment and Ceres Karoo and northern Little Karoo, and eastwards as far as Uniondale.

Description
It occurs on sandy flats in succulent karoo, strandveld and arid fynbos, and is often a weed of old lands and roadsides.
