Justification
EOO 3504 km², between three and four severely fragmented subpopulations continue to decline due to competition from alien invasive plants, habitat degradation in the form of grazing and trampling by game. The cultivation of proteas in the subpopulation near Agulhas poses a severe current threat.

Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Western Cape
Range
Between Elim and Bredasdorp and on the plain south of Potberg.

Description
Dark sandy soil near seepage areas.
Threats
Threatened by competition from unmanaged alien invasive plants across its range. Field observations in De Hoop Nature Reserve indicate decline due to overgrazing and trampling by game. At least one known subpopulation is threatened by habitat loss to protea cultivation for the cut-flower industry.
Population

A very rare and localized habitat specialist, known from only a few, isolated subpopulations.
