This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of less than 10 km², two to three locations are potentially threatened by competition from alien invasive plants. It is therefore listed as Vulnerable under criterion D.

Description
Plants grow in montane fynbos on upper slopes.
Threats
It is potentially threatened by competition from alien invasive plants - much of the southern slopes of the Riviersonderend Mountains is infested with spreading, unmanaged alien invasive pines. Although alien plants are not currently present in this species' habitat, if it is allowed to spread, it could cause decline and even extinction of this highly localized endemic.
