| Some subpopulations have declined due to livestock overgrazing (J. Vlok pers. comm. 2007). Two subpopulations are also threatened by too frequent fires. |

There are less than 10 subpopulations known and two are very small, consisting of less than 10 and less than 20 individuals respectively.
