Provincial distribution
Western Cape
Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found in Langeberg and western Outeniqua Mountains between Swellendam and Mossel Bay.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Terrestrial
Major habitats
South Outeniqua Sandstone Fynbos, South Langeberg Sandstone Fynbos
Description
It occurs in mesic proteoid fynbos.
Threats
There are no known severe threats to this species. Land cover data show no significant change in the extent of its habitat between 1990 and 2014. It is potentially threatened by competition from alien invasive plants at Garcia's Pass.
Population

It is currently known from three isolated subpopulations. All three subpopulations occur in accessible sites near mountain passes, and it is very likely that more subpopulations exist in intervening mountainous areas. More field surveys are needed to better understand the abundance of this species, and monitoring is required to determine the impact of alien invasive plants on the population.
