Threats
This species is a resprouter, which makes it less susceptible to too frequent fires, which is becoming a concern in parts of its range (Whitehouse 2004). Most of its habitat is protected. Alien invasive plants are present in low densities in some areas, but do not yet pose a threat to this species. If left unmanaged, however, competition from alien invasive plants could become a threat in future.
Population

This species is common throughout its range, especially at high altitude (Whitehouse 2004). The population is stable.
