Justification
EOO 6000 km², a fairly common species in suitable habitat that is suspected to occur at 10-20 locations. It is declining due to ongoing habitat loss to crop cultivation and coastal development, alien plant invasion and too frequent fire.

Description
Fynbos on very well-drained, windblown sand and limestone-derived soil, 0-300 m.
Threats
Threatened by land degradation, cultivation and forest plantations. It may also be susceptible to local extinction caused by unnatural fire regimes as it does not resprout after fire (Whitehouse 2004).
