Justification
EOO 1150 km², and estimated four locations continue to decline due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation as a result of expanding vineyards and protea cultivation, overgrazing, alien plant invasion and inappropriate fire management.
Distribution
Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Western Cape
Range
Bredasdorp region, Elim to Potberg.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Terrestrial
Major habitats
Overberg Sandstone Fynbos, De Hoop Limestone Fynbos
Description
Acid sand flats.
Threats
Threatened by habitat loss and degradation as a result of inappropriate veld management and transformation for growing proteas for the cut flower industry. Areas nearby have been ploughed in the past, are used for grazing and subject to unnatural burning cycles. Alien plants have also invaded much of the fynbos within this species' range.
Population

A very rare and poorly known species, with only one recent collection, where only 20 plants could be found after extensive searching. Plants are however easily overlooked and it is likely that other subpopulations may exist nearby (Whitehouse 2006).

Decreasing
