Description
Dry ravines, in granite and quartzite derived soils.
Threats
In the Richtersveld this species is threatened by severe overgrazing, trampling and ongoing habitat degradation. In Bushmanland it is threatened by habitat loss to mining, and possibly overgrazing as well, although grazing pressure is not as high as in the Richtersveld.
Population

In the Richtersveld this species is known from a few localized, isolated subpopulations, and all are declining due to overgrazing. Further east, records are also sporadic, and this species appears to be localized to Bushmanland inselbergs. Around Aggeneys it is also declining due to habitat loss to mining.
