Range
This species is widespread across eastern and southern South Africa, from the Free State Drakensberg to the Groot Winterhoek Mountains in the Western Cape. There are isolated populations in the Waterberg, Limpopo Province, as well as central Namibia and southern Zimbabwe.

Description
It occurs wedged in cracks at the base of boulders in dry scrub, woodland, grassland and rocky hills, rarely in forest. It has a strong preference for sandstone and quartzite.
