Description | Dry highveld grassland. |
Threats |
According to Vegmap 2006 (Mucina et al. 2006), eastern highveld grassland is a highly threatened vegetation type (status EN), and within the known range of this species in South Africa the vegetation type is 41% transformed by plantations and commercial agriculture (calculated using GIS). According to John Burrows, the habitat of this species is very badly degraded. |

Population trend | Stable |
Notes |
This is a very poorly known species. When Brown described the species in 1925, he speculated that it might be a hybrid because of its similarity to the widespread Indigofera hilaris. The taxon is however still recognised as a distinct species (Schrire 1991). Compton included this species in the Flora of Swaziland (Compton 1976). However, the specimens cited in this publication are misidentifications of I. hilaris (det. G. Germishuizen).
According to the recent revision (1991) and latest checklist (2006), this is a valid species. |
