Justification
This species has a restricted range in South Africa, but is widespread and common outside South Africa. It is declining due to ongoing habitat loss to mining along the Northern Cape coast, but is not yet in danger of extinction.

Description
Plants grow in coastal dunes and upper beaches.
Threats
About 35% of this species' habitat has been lost or degraded due to open cast mining of dunes. Loss continues, but at a very low rate (<5% in 24 years).
Population

This species is very common on the coastal dunes between Port Nolloth and Alexander Bay. It is also widespread and common along the coast of Namibia, where its habitat is well protected.
