Justification
Subpopulations are small and typically have fewer than 50 mature individuals. The total population is estimated to be no more than 5000 mature individuals. It is declining due to ongoing habitat loss to potato and rooibos tea cultivation as well as mining.

Threats
Threatened by ongoing, rapid conversion of its habitat for potato and rooibos tea cultivation as well as open-cast mineral mining of coastal dunes.

This is a sparsely distributed species with small, scattered subpopulations, typically consisting of fewer than 50 plants.
