Known from five subpopulations. alien plant invasion and urban expansion are likely to have caused losses but extant subpopulations are safe within the Table Mountain National Park.

Threats
Threatened in the past by habitat loss to urban expansion and competition from alien invasive plants, however aliens on Red Hill have been cleared an are being managed, and remaining subpopulations are within formally protected areas.
