Range
It occurs from Port Elizabeth through the eastern KwaZulu-Natal to Mpumalanga, Gauteng, North West, and Limpopo. Also occurs in Swaziland, Botswana and Angola.

Description
Plants grow in seepage areas and may be submerged in rainy season. It is also found on wet mud or sand during dry season.
Threats
This species' habitat is continuing to decline due to excessive overgrazing, coastal developments, mining and alien plant invasion.
