Justification
An endemic to the Langeberg mountains of the Western Cape Province, South Africa, this species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 273 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 20 km². It was previously listed as Extinct as it could not be found at the type locality from Garcia's Pass, between 1950 and 2015 however since 2016 four subpopulations have been discovered. As a post fire early successional species which is easily missed in surveys of mature fynbos, it is highly likely that an additional 10 subpopulations are extant across its range. As such we suspect that there are between 10 and 15 locations for this species. There is ongoing decline in the quality of its habitat as a result of the spread of invasive alien plants, this species is therefore listed as Near Threatened under criterion B.

Description
It occurs in sands or sandstone gravel at mid altitudes. This species grows after fire and is only detectable in recently burnt fynbos vegetation.
Threats
It is threatened by habitat degradation as a result of the spread of invasive alien plant species. Loss of habitat to pine plantations is a past threat.
Population

Four subpopulations are known, as a post fire pioneer species it is common following fires.
