Scientific Name | Aspalathus cuspidata R.Dahlgren |
Higher Classification | Dicotyledons |
Family | FABACEAE |
National Status |
Status and Criteria | Vulnerable B1ab(ii,iii,iv,v)+2ab(ii,iii,iv,v) |
Assessment Date | 2007/12/14 |
Assessor(s) | N.A. Helme & D. Raimondo |
Justification | EOO <1200 km², only five locations are known, but this species is likely to be overlooked, therefore we estimate that there are at least 10. One subpopulation was lost to heavy mineral sand mining and decline is continuing. Other subpopulations are also potentially threatened by vineyard and tomato cultivation. |
Distribution |
Endemism | South African endemic |

Threats |
This species is threatened by mining (heavy mineral sands) and potentially threatened by agriculture. |
Population |
This species is known from very few records, but is also likely to be overlooked. Recent observations near Brand-se-baai indicate that subpopulations tend to be small (N.A. Helme, pers. obs. 2007).
