Justification
Aspalathus intricata subsp. intricata is a rare, range-restricted habitat specialist with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 150 km². It has no known severe threats and is therefore not suspected to be in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed under the IUCN 3.1. criteria as Least Concern but is nationally recognised as Rare.

This taxon is endemic to South Africa, and is known from two isolated subpopulations, one in the Witteberg Mountains near Laingsburg and the other at Gydo Pass near Ceres.
