Justification
EOO 2031 km², AOO < 2000 km², this subspecies has declined and continue to decline in the northern parts of its range due to habitat loss and degradation as a result of crop cultivation and quarrying. However, habitat remains largely intact in the rather poorly explored southern parts of the range, and it is estimated that more than 10 locations still remain.

Description
Renosterveld, found in fine clay soils, sometimes on the margin of succulent karoo.
Threats
This species has declined in the Hex River Valley due to habitat loss to crop cultivation and is now probably locally extinct. One subpopulation found in 2007 in a small fragment of alluvium renosterveld was about to be ploughed. It is also likely to continue to decline between Hex River Pass and Touws River, where the habitat is severely degraded and disturbed. However, large areas of habitat remains intact southwards between Montagu and Barrydale, and subpopulations should be stable in this area. This area is also somewhat under-explored, and more subpopulations than the three currently known are likely to exist.
