Aspalathus lamarckiana is a highly localized species with an extent of occurrence of <10 km². It has no known threats, and is therefore not suspected to be in danger of extinction.

This species is endemic to a small area around Wittepoort, between the Anysberg and Klein Swartberg in the Little Karoo near Ladismith.

Description
It occurs in arid, rocky sandstone fynbos on lower slopes, 600-700 m.
