Justification | Aspalathus patens is a high altitude habitat specialist with a restricted range, and an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2016 km². It is not suspected to be in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed under the IUCN 3.1. criteria as Least Concern but is nationally recognised as Rare. |

It is a rare and localized habitat specialist. Subpopulations tend to be small, but the population is not suspected to be declining.
