This species has lost some habitat to crop cultivation in the past, but this threat has ceased as its habitat is only marginally suited to agriculture. Currently, the most severe threat is dense alien invasive wattle infestations of coastal limestone fynbos across its known range. Coastal and other infrastructure development is a potential threat to some subpopulations.
